At this years Native American Classic, The Lady Jegos came out 2-1 on the weekend.
Head Coach Mike Gonzales stated, "I am already so proud of the team. We lost our first game and after that we knew what we had to do to fight on".
The Lady Jegos opened up the Classic against an older, more experienced Tucson sol, dropping that game 70-102. The two games to follow were victories against Wayne County Community College out of Michigan (92-71) and Clarendon out of Texas (73-67).
Samantha Nunez had a huge weekend dropping double digits all three nights, hitting 83 for the weekend. Point Guard Catherine Leija helped push the tempo on the weekend and dropped a new career high of 13 points on Saturday night. Elisa Gonzalez nearly had a double-double on the thrid night as she hit 8-for-18 on the field adding up to 17 and pulled down 9 big boards.
With the two wins in the book, the Lady Jegos hold a 2-4 record on the season. The Lady Jegos head to Grays Harbor, WA next week for another pair of Non-conference games before their conference opener against 2018 ACCAC DII champions, Mesa College on November 20th.
