For the first time in program history, the Jegos have beaten a ranked opponent.
On Saturday December 8th, the lady Jegos came back from 19 down to beat #15 Central Arizona College.
"The game was thrilling and beautiful, all in one. These moments are why we love this sport" stated Assistant Coach Hernandez.
The Jegos opened the game with the first bucket, up 2-0 but Central game back with a quick 3 pointer to take their lead. There would be 4 ties and 5 lead changes in the first quarter alone.
The Vaqueras controled the tempo most of the second quarter and walked into the locker room up 16, 34-50.
But in the second half the Jegos would force turnover after turnover and found themselves within 6. A late And-1 let the Vaqueras head to the 4th up 9.
In the last quarter, the team rallied together to find their win. Samantha Nunez hit a big 3 to put the Jegos within 3 and Elisa Gonzalez stole the show with a huge steal and bucket to put the Jegos down by 1. :12 seconds later, Cherlee Collins hit her 4th assist on the night as she hit a corner pass to Ana Martinez who hit a major 3 to put the Jegos up by 2, giving them their first lead since the first quarter.
A few buckets were traded but it was a big night for Elisa Gonzalez as she finished the night off with some major free throws to secure the Jegos biggest win in program history.
The Jegos are on the floor again at home this Wednesday at 5:30 pm against Pima Community College.
